Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,
Welcome families to semester 2 which started on Tuesday. I know a few students have asked about option change forms. We are asking all students to stay in their current options for next week and then change forms will be available the week of February 10th to the 12th. This will allow us to look at possible moves over the Family Holiday weekend. Option fees will then be added to PowerSchool accounts after Family Holiday to reflect these changes.
I hope all families had a chance to review their child(ren)’s report cards this week. It can be accessed through PowerSchool. If you want help on how to view the report cards more information can be found here: https://cbe.ab.ca/support/Pages/MyCBE-PowerSchool-Attendance.aspx
If you have questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher. Our next parent-teacher conferences will be March 20 and 21.
A reminder that the weather in Calgary is expected to be much colder next week. If families are dropping off students in the morning for practice, please have them enter through the doors by the main office.
Finally, congratulations to all our wrestlers who completed a successful season. They had their divisional championships this past Wednesday.
Bonne fin de semaine,
Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School

School Casino
Date(s): Wednesday February 12 and Thursday February 13 2025 at the Ace Airport Casino: 40 AERO CRES NE
We have a school fundraising casino coming up on February 12 and 13 (this is the days leading into teachers' convention/Family Holiday). The money raised from events like this is a huge financial support to schools like Vanier. Our last casino raised upwards of $75 000 which our parent council has used to support numerous activities and improvements around the building. These include: paid buses for each class to lower the cost of field trips, a renovated learning common, PE equipment that has led to a broader more inclusive program, learning resources to support our English and French students, a wider, more up to date, selection of books in the learning commons and much more. We are currently 15 volunteers short for the evening. If you would be interested in volunteering some time at this event there is more information below, or you can email our school council president, Farouk Gillani at faroukgillani@me.com
