Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,

Welcome to June which, as one of my students pointed out, recognizes Pride Month and National Men’s Mental Health.  It was great to connect with this student and have them share with me their thoughts on both these pieces.  For more information, or to continue the conversation about either, you can visit the following websites:

As we wind down the school year, we are beginning to welcome our incoming students.  This week we had students from Huntington Hills and King George come by.  I hope that these students returned home with good things to say about our school and are all the more excited (and a bit less nervous) to start here in September.  These visits will continue in the upcoming weeks with Buchanan and Mount View.

An opening congratulations goes to our track and field coaches who brought a massive contingent of athletes to the recent track meet.  We were the smallest school at the meet (in some cases by hundreds of students) but actually had the largest group of students.  Moveover, our students finished in the top half of their categories, with numerous top finishers.  Thank you to Ms. Dunn for organizing a team

A second recognition goes to Ms. Ramos and Mme. Gillespie for the successful Fine Arts evening we hosted this week.  To see the growth of our band program and now our growing drama production program is a testament to the hard work of the staff and the support we get from our families.  To see how much the students have improved this year is wonderful!

A final recognition goes to the 10 students who were recognized recently during the Kiwanis Awards, Tuesday evening.  This was a wonderful opportunity to recognize the hard work and excellence of a group of our grade 9 students.  For more information on this award please click here: https://kiwaniscalgarychinook.ca/our-signature-programs.html

Finally, a reminder that PATs resume next week with the grade 9 French Language Arts students writing on Wednesday and the Math Part A on Friday.

Bonne fin de semaine,
