Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx
I hope you have been able to enjoy the wonderful Spring weather either doing something you enjoy or being with loved ones. This week, I was reminded of the strength of our Vanier community. Parents, students, and teachers came together this week in support of each other's well-being in many different ways. Showing up for someone who needs it, checking in on someone who seems down or being proactive in support of healthy choices. To that end, Vanier is a thriving community, rooted in support and well-being for each member of our community.
Our Grade 9 students have begun their journey out east, beginning with an early morning flight from Calgary to Montreal, followed by a scenic drive to historic Québec City. There, they will experience the rich culture and charm of Old Québec. The adventures will continue in Montreal and then to Ottawa, where they will experience Canadian history firsthand. Students will engage in the language and culture and of course visit the Byward Market and end with a powerful visit to the Canadian War Museum. We wish them safe travels, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return to school next week.
On Wednesday evening of this week, the grade 9 band students participated in an interschool band concert at Ted Harrison School. It was great to see students and families come together from Peter Lougheed, Ted Harrison and GP Vanier. The highlight of the evening was the final performance, a collective band performance with all three schools. Thank you to Ms. Ramos, on your passion, creativity and time on bringing together schools in the NE of Calgary to bring about music appreciation and future interest in music programs!!!
