Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,

For starters, I would like to thank all the staff and students for their hard work to make our Open House this week a success. In fact, not just our staff, but we were also joined by Mme. Samson, the AP at King George school, and Guillaume Laroche, a system specialist in the CBE for French languages were also present to support families.

Some highlights:

  • Franklin and Naomi did a wonderful job telling parents about some of the options and clubs that Vanier has on offer.
  • Alexa, Tyler and Ishbel did our land acknowledgement bilingually
  • Our jazz band performed in the front hall
  • Grade 7 band, 47 members strong, kicked off the evening
  • Leadership students were around the school helping families navigate the building
  • Foods students provided refreshments
  • Mme. Cosgrove organized the food trucks that added to this community event.

In the coming weeks, our badminton teams will compete in their tournaments, and our track and field tryouts will begin. Please see the section below for more details.

Finally, all families of students here next year will be getting an email with instructions for selecting their option courses for next year. This is done online via PowerSchool. I would encourage all families to do this together so that parents are aware of their child(ren)’s choices.

Please get out and enjoy this weather. I will be out finally cutting my lawn.

Bonne fin de semaine,

Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School
