Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,
I want to start off the message this week by thanking all the students and staff who attended our open house on Wednesday evening. We had the opportunity to welcome numerous new families to Vanier and our students did a great job at promoting the school and showing our students around. Also, a big thank you to our grade 8 band students who welcomed families with a short performance of the music they have been learning this year.
Many of our grade 7 and 8 students completed the Gauss math exam this week. In fact, we had so many candidates that we needed to split the group over 2 days. After the marks were tabulated, we had 17 students at Vanier score in the top 25% of test takers across the country!
On June 3 we will be sending quite a large contingent of students (close to 100) to the City-North Track and Field meet. We would still really like parents/guardians to volunteer to come spend the day. This is a wonderful opportunity to watch your child compete and interact with peers. It is also a wonderful day outdoors (weather permitting)!
Finally, just a final reminder that grade 8 students will be going to outdoor school next week. The weather is looking good, but please remember to pack appropriately just in case.
Bonne fin de semaine,
Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal École Georges P. Vanier School
Please see our Cafeteria Menu.
Overdue Books
Ms. Ana, our library assistant, is now beginning the process of cataloguing our current book inventory at GP Vanier. Teachers have been connecting with students to remind them to return any overdue items by the end of the month. If families could please remind their children to check for any overdue books at home, that would be much appreciated.
