Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,

Happy Friday!  Fall is most definitely here as the leaves change colour and the temperature drops.  Next week's forecast predicts temperatures below freezing (at least in the mornings) so please remind your child(ren) to dress appropriately for the weather.  Physical Education teachers will still be planning on taking students outside and, unless they are in a club/extra-curricular activity, students will head outside for the second half of lunch.

Today marked the last day for our four first year student teachers.  I had a chance to speak with them all before they left about their time at Vanier.  They all let me know that they enjoyed their time at Vanier, and they all felt they had learned a lot over the past two weeks.

While we said goodbye to the student teachers on Friday, we also welcomed our new facility operator, Mr. Rodger Bergen.  Mr. Bergen brings a wealth of experience to the school, including a period of time when we worked together at my previous school.  Please join me in welcoming Mr. Bergen to Vanier.

Congratulations to our school soccer teams!  Our Boys' team in the B-pool semi-final and our girls play for the division title next week.  Best of luck to both teams.

Vanier is in need of a wrestling coach to come out and help support this program.    If you are willing to donate your time and expertise, please reach out to the school and we will connect you with the teacher in charge.

Finally, to all those families who have a child(ren) on an IPP.  Please return the signature page to school next week.  If you have any questions or concerns about the IPP, please reach out to your child(ren)’s homeroom teacher.

Bonne fin de semaine,

Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School

Student Pick-Up/Drop-Off Reminder

Please pick-up/drop-off your student in the visitor parking area. Students can then walk to whichever door needed(Back doors for sports, Band door for practice etc.). Please DO NOT drive into the Staff Parking Lot regardless of the time of day. We have staff that arrive at many different times of the day and end up unable to park as parents are parked in their spots.

Also, please remember that students are to be going around to the back doors of the school to enter the school. Those doors will be unlocked for students at 8:45. For sports that have early morning practice, coaches should be unlocking those same back doors for their teams to enter. They will also be locking those doors after players are expected to be there. Please do not rely on someone being in the office that early to open the Main Doors for your child. We do not want students coming earlier and ending up outside as the weather gets colder.
