Dear Vanier families,

To start this weekly update, I wanted to invite you to read a few messages below from the parent council and from the CBE about the upcoming job action.

Secondly, with the pause or cancellation of athletics and field trips for the remainder of October, fees for these events will be removed from families MyCBE Accounts.  We will be keeping “celebration fees” on so that students who have made these teams can still recognize these accomplishments when we return.  Fees that have already been paid will be used to go towards outstanding fees or complimentary fees that will be added when we return to work.

Our office staff will continue to attend work and will be able to answer phone calls and emails.  If you have questions, please call 403- 777-7460 or email them at georgespvanier@cbe.ab.ca

Finally, I want to thank all of the families who have reached out to staff here with messages of support over the past few weeks.  I have never experienced something like this, either as a student or a teacher.  I know that all our families will find this strike challenging in different ways and that my teachers are also struggling with the fact that we won’t be there to support your children.

I have tried to find ways to articulate my thoughts around the situation but continue to find myself searching for what I want to say.  Perhaps, it is best just to let families know that when we see your children again, we will pick up where we left off and continue to help them grow as people.

Please take care of one another and I hope to see you all again soon,

Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal École Georges P Vanier School
