Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx
I hope that your students are beginning to get back into the rhythm of being back at school. If you haven’t had the opportunity to connect with your child(ren)’s teachers, either at meet the teacher or via email, I encourage you to reach out and begin that conversation. We will have our first Parent-Teacher Conferences in October but beginning to build that relationship beforehand is something I always recommend to families.
Also, as I have seen in my own household, a return to school inevitably seems to mean that illnesses are soon to follow. Thank you to all those families who have been calling to let us know that their child(ren) will be home, it very much assists us in doing attendance and letting teachers know. Also, all staff have their virtual classrooms up and running so if a student is at home sick, they will be able to access work remotely.
For our grade 9 parents, you should have received an email speaking about of Eastern Canada trip, which we are hoping to offer to all students, regardless of program this year. In that email was a link to a “letter of intent” that lets us know if you are interested in your child(ren) joining us on this trip. We would then use this number to get a better sense of the cost of the trip (more students generally means the trip is less expensive). If you did not receive this email, please have your child(ren) come to the office and pick up a hard copy of this form. We will be having a parent information evening later in the Autumn with more information.
Finally, we had a super successful start to our athletics season. Our cross-country team represented Vanier well at our first meet at Annie Gale. Not only did we score some very successful results, with many top finishes, but our students were positive, cheered each other on and remained positive despite the dreary weather. Moreover, I spoke with many parents who came out and did the same thing. It is these kinds of events that continue to build the community fabric that is so important to a successful school.
Bonne fin de semaine,
Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School
