Dear Lynx families/Chères familles Lynx,
Welcome to the third week of September. Next week we have numerous items on the go that I wanted to let families know about.
Firstly, on Thursday the 26 we will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day with various activities occurring over the week. That afternoon we will also be holding our annual Terry Fox Day; you can read more about that below.
Secondly, on Tuesday evening we will be hosting our first band and parent council meetings of the year. You will find a link below to the parent council meeting which will occur in a hybrid manner. These councils are a wonderful way for parents to get involved with the school and play a crucial role in supporting the activities and offerings at Vanier.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Grade 8 leadership class that worked collaboratively to clean the grounds at Vanier. The example that these students set for their peers was wonderful, and providing a clean playground for all the community to enjoy deserves recognition.
Bonne fin de semaine,
Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School

Terry Fox Run – THIS THURSDAY!
Students will be participating in Vanier's Terry Fox Run and activity afternoon on Thursday, Sept. 26. We are so proud to be a part of this Canadian tradition in the fight against cancer.
Please ensure your child has a water bottle, weather appropriate clothes (their gym strip or exercise clothes, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, jacket, etc.) and appropriate shoes to run in and perhaps, an extra snack.
Georges P. Vanier School is getting ready for the 2024 Terry Fox School Run! We’re super excited to take part in this annual tradition that supports cancer research while building school spirit. Please support our student’s fundraising efforts and donate today at: https://schools.terryfox.ca/GeorgesPVanierSchoolCalgary #terryfoxschoolrun #nomatterwhat @theterryfoxfoundation

School Photos are Ready!
Student photos are ready to be viewed online. You can log in to your account on mylifetouch.ca or create an account using the student CBE ID. Your child knows their ID, and this can be found in your MyCBE account. All families can also log on and order a FREE digital Pictires2Protect Card. If you order your child’s photo before September 26, you will save on delivery costs. Send your envelopes to school before Thursday.
Here are the quick and easy steps to access photos online by using your child’s student ID number:
- Go to mylifetouch.ca
- Click on “Student ID”
- Enter in your school's city, province and school name
- Follow the instructions to view and order your child’s photos
If you have any questions on this ordering process, please call the Lifetouch Customer Care Line at 1.866.457.8212 or access the online LIVE chat agent.
By enabling the option of using your child’s student ID number, it gives people another way to access photos in addition to their proof sheet.
