I wanted to remind all parents/guardians that parent-teacher conferences are upcoming next week on November 23 (evening and in-person) and November 24 (morning and hybrid). To access these please refer to the link that was sent to all families earlier this week. If you did not receive the link and would like to book, please call Ms. Gilkes at the front office for assistance. Please see the message below for more details.

Congratulations to all of our basketball players on successful seasons! Vanier’s season wrapped up last night as our Sr. Boys lost in the finals to Valley Creek. Thank you too all the coaches (staff and volunteers) and student volunteers who made this season possible.

I wanted to share a story about the Sr. Boys team that I thought showed the type of dedication and effort I hope of all Vanier students. The boys, after winning their semi-final, decided that they wanted to practice as much as possible for the final, however, the win occurred right before the fall break. The team, without input from Mme. Cosgrove, asked to come in on a PD Day morning and work with Mme. Cosgrove before the meetings started. This meant many of the students got up early, bussed to school for a 7:45 practice, and then went back home just after 9 am. Stories like this often get overlooked by staff and families and I wanted to take a moment to recognize the team’s dedication and camaraderie.

To the Grade 9 families of students going to outdoor school, I hope that they all enjoy next week. Please make sure they arrive on time, and packed, on Monday morning.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Welcome to our first Parent-Teacher Conference of the 2023 school year! We will have 2 days of conferences. Thursday November 23, 2023 4:30 – 8:00PM, which are In-Person, and Friday November 24, 2023 9:00AM – 2:00PM, which is Hybrid Conferences. This means you can book an In-Person or an Online Conference with your student’s teachers. Please see below for some instructions and guidelines for booking your Parent-Teacher Conferences.

You will book conferences using your MyCBE account. Please see Technical Support for Students and Parents if you need help booking your Parent-Teacher Conference.

The portal to book your Parent-Teacher Conferences IS OPEN. The booking portal will close Wednesday November 22, 2023 at 11:59PM. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be 10 minutes/time slot. You can book with any teachers you would like to see. If you feel you need more than 1 time slot to discuss with the teacher, please let them know via email and they can book you a second time slot.

If you would like a meeting with Chad Edmonds (Principal) or Laurelle Edmiston (Assistant Principal), please contact them via email to set up that meeting.

Thursday November 23, 2023 will be In-Person Conferences at the school with teachers from 4:30PM – 8:00PM.

• Grade 6 Teachers will be located in their classrooms.
• Grade 7-9 Teachers will be located in the gym.

Friday November 24, 2023 will be Hybrid Conferences (both In-Person and Online) with teacher’s In-Person at GPV or via Microsoft Teams from 9:00AM – 2:00PM.

• Grade 6 Teachers will be located in their classrooms.
• Grade 7-9 Teachers will be located in their classrooms, NOT THE GYM.

If you would like your meeting by phone instead of online, please book as an Online Conference but then contact the teachers and let them know you would prefer a phone conference. They will call you at your booking time.

Once you book your online conference, you will receive a confirmation email with the link for the conference.

If you have any trouble booking your conferences, please contact the Main Office and we would be happy to help.

Holiday Hampers

We are starting our Second Annual Holiday Hamper Food Drive to support families in our community who may need food supports during the holiday season. Last year we were overwhelmed with how generous our school community was and we are looking forward to spreading holiday cheer again this year. There will be more information coming out next week, stay tuned :)
