Dear Vanier families

You are receiving this email as your child (or children) are registered to attend GP Vanier for the 2025-2026 school year.

Please let me start by welcoming you to, or back to, the Vanier community.

The Vanier staff will be officially returning to work tomorrow and we will be working to prepare classes for students' entry next week.

We know that returning to school can be a stressful time for students and families and I want to let you know that we would very much like to work with you to support this transition.

We continue to experience growth here at Vanier, and this year we are projected to have in excess of 600 students.  Organizing this many students into classes, options and PE blocks is something that teachers began working on last school year and will be revisited again this week.  For new students, we also meet numerous times with feeder schools to gather as much information as possible to support them.

With this information we do our best to balance classrooms based on numerous factors (eg. student needs, student connections, class dynamics, school logistical issues, option availability). Therefore, please note that only exceptional reasons will be considered for classroom changes, and in these exceptional circumstances, we will not be making classroom changes until the end of October when our enrolment numbers and budget will be finalized. We kindly ask for your support in helping your child understand and accept their assigned class list for the 2025–26 school year.

Over the next few days please check your email for a message from your child’s homeroom teacher with more information regarding the first day of school.

We look forward to seeing your children at school on Tuesday morning (September 2) at 8:45 am. All students should meet on our upper field where teachers will be waiting to greet students.  There will also be administration and other staff there to guide students who need assistance.

Finally, we strive to have an open door policy here at Vanier and Mme. Cindy and myself are both available to connect with and support families during the school year.  Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or issues that you would like to discuss.

Have a wonderful long weekend and we will see the students back at school on Tuesday.

Bonne fin de semaine,

Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal Georges P Vanier School
