Dear Vanier Families,
Welcome to the end of the 2025-26 school year.
I want to start this message by thanking all the families who are connected to Vanier for their support during this school year. I can say, personally speaking, this year was unique in my educational experience. Legislative changes, Curriculum updates, the growing use of AI, funding issues and the strike have made navigating the educational waters this year challenging, and I want to share my sincerest thanks for the support we have received at Vanier from our community over the course of the year.
I hope I am wise enough to recognize that with the diaspora of communities we serve, it is impossible to find perfect solutions, but your support and grace have made navigating these waters as a school much more manageable.
I also like to think that it was the wider public’s larger voice that was a part of the most recent updates to an increase in funding for school boards.
I thought that the importance and value families have in public education was on full display Wednesday evening at our Grade 9 celebration. To see so many parents, grandparents, extended family members, and siblings there to recognize this important milestone was heartwarming. For me, amongst other things, it reiterated the fact that what we do in schools affects so many people, much beyond the interactions in the building.
I hope that you and your children have a wonderful, safe, and happy summer. For those of you returning, we look forward to seeing you again on August 31st. For those of you departing, we wish you the best of luck, and hope that what you learned at Vanier will serve you well in your future endeavours.
Finally, a reminder that the report cards went live on Thursday 25th. You can access them on your MyCBE account.
Bon été,
Mr. Chad Edmonds – Principal École Georges P Vanier School
